Do not assume that every “bead-blasted” appearance is identical. Particle size, operating pressure, exposure, nozzle distance, bead condition and the original surface all influence the result. A useful sample approval records these variables so the production team can reproduce the accepted finish.
How to make the selection without guessing
1. Define the material to remove
State whether the incoming part has casting residue, oxidation, burrs, a previous coating or only an inconsistent cosmetic surface. The removal objective helps the supplier avoid recommending a medium that is either ineffective or unnecessarily aggressive.
2. Define the surface that must remain

Use representative parts and hold unrelated variables steady. Label samples by media and operating condition. Inspect them with the people responsible for quality and the downstream process. Once a sample is accepted, retain it and record the settings as the purchasing and production reference.
5. Compare total process cost
Price per kilogram does not show the whole result. Review replenishment, cycle time, media recovery, dust handling, rejects, equipment wear and disposal. The most economical option is the one that repeatedly meets the part requirement at an acceptable total processing cost.
